Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow started landing on Sony Mobile’s devices earlier this month, rolling out for select Xperia Z2 and Z3 models. At the time, only the Xperia devices that were part of the Beta Marshmallow program got a taste of the latest OS, which carries build number 23.5.A.0.570. Sony distributed1 the firmware to only three device models: the Xperia Z2 (D6503), Z3 Compact (D5803) and the Z3 (D6603). This suggests the three mobile variants were on a priority track that gave them prime time access to updates.

Fortunately, Sony decided to extend2 the courtesy and push Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to a number of other handsets. First of all, more Xperia Z2 and Z3 Xperia gadgets can expect to see the firmware build 23.5.A.0.570 arriving momentarily via an over the air (OTA) update. Device owners might want to keep close to a Wi-Fi network to quickly and effortlessly download and install it. The update should land on the following models: Xperia Z2 (D6502), Xperia Z3 (D6646 and D6653), Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633), Xperia Z3 Compact (D5833) and a few variants of the Xperia Z2 Tablet with model numbers SGP521, SGP512 and SGP511.

Once they get the update, the devices listed above should have the full array of improvements from the latest Android Marshmallow. We compiled a list of the best five features found in the new OS, so users will make the most of out it. Doze Battery Optimization is one key factor in saving battery life. It may be true that each upgrade to a new OS version touts that it will keep more juice in your device, but this one seems to be as real as it gets. With Doze, the phone makes use of a combination of software tweaks and hardware sensors to identify unused background processes and shut them off. For example, many battery-draining processes are put on sleep mode during the night.

Google Now on Tap is another great addition to the OS and Xperia devices. The virtual assistant can now select information from third-party apps, thus helping Google Now make the most relevant recommendations and data searches.
